Warbling about Humanness & Wellbeing

Imagine if in everything we did there was a nod to humanity? Looking out for and looking after. If social care, health, human rights, poverty, elders and those most in need were all of our responsibility and there were brilliant ways to help us all to get involved.

'I spend a lot of time talking and reading about organisations and systems; why they don’t work and how they could work better. Something has dawned on me which is both rather obvious and potentially powerful' ...read more >

    Busyness as usual?

Dan hasn't baked bread in two weeks. Tom and Steve look a bit worried. Not only are his kids demanding toast, but Tom and Steve know this means that Dan is run ragged. 'Sourdough just needs wheat, water - and time, I know when I haven't had time to bake that things are too nuts'. In fact all three of them are a bit frazzled from 'the bonkers time' they've been having with their new venture, Swarm – which grew out of Good For Nothing. They say Swarm is not a busyness. But as they (along with pretty much everyone else – at least in London) seem to be so busy, asking the difference between what they're doing and traditional 'busyness' seems an obvious question.

I don't want to go shopping every weekend and I don't think that meetings, minutes and agendas are the way to increase fairness, fun and freedom in our society. I do like technology and creativity.

    The Apprentice Without The W*nkers

One sweet weekend a short while ago, the Brighton GFN community were introduced to the team at PricePie. PricePie are on a mission to help us make informed decisions about what we are buying and that everyone receives their fair share of the pie...an impressive organisation to follow...

  • A meaty subject

    Warbled by Chris Packe

I have noticed that I am not alone in reconsidering my relationship with meat. The more I learn about how much of the meat I eat comes to my plate, the more I come to question my human-ness by eating it.

This film, Food Inc., might be something to further push me into action (because on this matter, as with many other important matters, all I've really done so far is think about it).

Have a watch, and see how you feel...

Inspiring technology innovation for the connected age.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’re launching a $5 million pilot project with Google to develop remote sensor technology that will tell us whether water is flowing at any of our projects, at any given time, anywhere in the world.

  • The Good Gym

    Warbled by Andrew Sprinz

Good Gym is a not-for-profit organisation that encourages people to combine their exercise regime with a spot of social care, matching busy workers with elderly "coaches", who receive a daily paper or other modest delivery and, in turn, provide an incentive for their weekly visitors to keep on running. The regular group runs start from Bethnal Green, Leyton, Canary Wharf, West Ham and Liverpool. They're a great opportunity to get fit, do good and be social.
