Come to a hack focussing on young people - the future generation! Be part of the movement to help young people understand and get access to a variety of career pathways - and be part of the catalyst of a group we're planning to create for our younger GFN members!

Been 'n' gone

This gig's over but check out the calendar for the next one.

This hack is focussing on helping young people. Firstly supporting them understand and access the different career opportunities available to them - there are loads, and its not just uni! This hack might also kick start our thinking around creating a GFN Chester group, specifically run by, and for, young people... Well exciting eh!?

The hack is for all current GFN members, any newbies you can encourage to register as a member, and also we encourage you to bring young people and children too. Please contact us at [email protected] if you intend to bring someone under 18 years old, so we can ensure proper measures are in place.

Per our usual 24 hour hack format, we hold a Q&A on the Friday evening at 6:30pm for an hour (and drinks somewhere afterwards for those who want to stay). Venue for this TBC but hopefully The Ship Inn in Handbridge.

Then a full day's hack at Industry in Handbridge, from 9:30am - 5pm on Saturday. Also a wrap party afterwards! Huge thanks to Industry for shelter and The Marlborough and The Brewers Arms for the fuel.

Please let us know (at [email protected]) if you can only come to part of the hack - we'll try and make sure you can still be part of it somehow!

"How can we communicate with and support young people aged 13 - 15 to understand and access the career paths available to them within culture, heritage and creative organisations across the city of Chester?"

We're currently writing the brief with our venture, Una Meehan, University of Chester. We will send all those attending the brief a few days in advance of the hack. So it's really important you register to tell us you're coming.

Please register if you want to come. This ensures there's enough food, drink and space for you on the day. And we can work out the skill sets in advance. Please let us know by Friday if you somehow can't make it.

Please also spread the word about this!! On Twitter, FaceyB, Insta, by actually talking to friends, family, like-minded randomers! We've not much time to get organised and this hack will be a fantastic one! #NewKidsOnTheBlock

Please, please bring any kit you will need or may find useful. Laptops, chargers, headphones, sketch pads, notepads etc. We'll supply the usual white boards, flip charts, pens, felt tips and paper for scribbling.
