Planning for this celebratory event is well underway and is supported by local partners, communities, schools and artists. This venture has been identified and driven forwards by James Roberts and Sarah May of The Moorings, The Groves, Chester and Friends of the Groves and Grosvenor Park. The project is enthusiastically supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council and being 'built' by Matt Baker and Russell Kirk.
Check out this brilliant footage of The Groves, as ladies compete in the Chester Swimming Gala (1914 - 1918).
Our challenge for this gig is to define what this underused public space could be in the future - after the anniversary. To create a vehicle, an identity, to promote this locality and to fuel learning, pride and appreciation of The Groves among Cestrians and visitors to Chester for years to come.
~~~~~From anniversary to legacy~~~~~
So, join us for an evening at The Moorings. We will use our 4-5 hours productively to
1) Define this space, explore its potential
2) Figure out its 'identity'
3) Use our findings from 1 and 2 to build a resource hub to educate and inform Cestrians and visitors
The Moorings will be providing handmade pizza, our friends at Commonhall Social are keeping us hydrated (beer!), musical beats will be pumping away - fuelling our brains and bodies! We welcome everyone with open arms, but are also specific skills we are looking for. Please register your attendance above ^^^ by clicking 'Attend'._
(And shhh but... depending on what we're able to achieve on the night there may be budget to pay people to help complete this project)_
